A handmade harmonium is a delicate instrument. Before you order one from far away, you want to know who builds it and what happens if something goes wrong on the journey. So in this post we share, in our own words, how we build, check, ship and stand behind every harmonium we send from Sree Mayapur Dham.

Safe delivery comes before profit

Shipping a harmonium abroad is never about making a big profit. In fact, the first thing on our mind is simple: the harmonium must reach you safely. After that, our goal is to make sure you are happy with it. These two promises come before everything else.

For this reason, we pack every instrument with great care. Moreover, we stay in touch with you until it arrives at your door.

Every handmade harmonium is checked in many stages

Before dispatch, each harmonium goes through inspections at several stages. First, we check that the tuning is right. Next, we fine-tune every single harmonium by hand. Many shops often skip this step, but we believe it makes the biggest difference to how the instrument sounds in kirtan. Finally, we go over the whole instrument once more before we pack it.

Quality over quantity

Selling anything does not make a shop special. Instead, we choose and design our harmoniums so they last for many years. A fancy finish can look good for a short time. However, over the long run it is the materials that matter: the wood, the reeds and the workmanship. That is what makes our harmoniums different from other brands in the market.

It is also worth remembering that a famous brand name does not always mean good quality. Sometimes a well-known label sits on a cheaply made instrument, and buyers only find out later. If your harmonium is damaged in shipping

A harmonium is a very delicate instrument. During a long journey, with handling and customs checks along the way, a key can sometimes move out of place. This is rare, but you should know exactly what we do if it happens:

1. Record a video and take a few photos while you open the parcel, from the sealed box until the harmonium is fully out.
2. Within 48 hours of delivery, send us the video and photos by WhatsApp, Google Drive or any file-sharing service.
3. Take the harmonium to your nearest musical instrument shop for repair.
4. Send us the repair invoice. As soon as it reaches us, we pay the repair cost.
5. If the harmonium is broken and cannot be repaired, we arrange a return and pay the return shipping ourselves.

Why the unboxing video and photos matter: they show clearly that the damage happened during shipping. With them, we can also raise a complaint and an insurance claim with the shipping company. So please keep your phone ready when the parcel arrives.

We have handled cases like this before. In our experience, a local repair is the fastest and safest solution for musical instruments. In contrast, sending a delicate harmonium back across the world risks more damage and weeks of waiting. Therefore, we simply ask you to keep your trust in us. Together, we will make sure your harmonium gets fixed.
